This is supposed to be about Eli….

Tonight we have been hanging out and talking here in the May house.   Kind of a rarity, but nice nonetheless.  I began discussing the days events (which were not so pleasant in the morning) and trying to think of the funny things my kiddos have done over the years.  I remarked how I really need to "write this stuff down" so I don't forget when I am older.   Ella and I began talking about this morning's mishap--Eli getting sick (puking) and how he is good at it and pretty self sufficient when it comes to puking.  Anyway, it reminded me of the time Ella said, "mom, why are my brains coming out" during a puke episode when she was 4 years old, which then reminded me of my blog about her "Ellaisms."  (I had never heard her laugh so hard when I told her she said that at age 4!)

I told Ella I had started a blog and tried to keep her "ellaisms" written down.   I clearly have not been consistent with this project, as the last entry was dated 2012!  Yikes!  Ella was very interested and wanted to read it.  I didn't expect her to be interested in what I write about her at her young at of 7.5 years old.  Now she's giving me ideas on what to write---like how she sleeps with the covers completely over her body every night.   No matter what she has asked me to write about or document, our discussion this evening and look back at this blog, has prompted me to document some more.  I don't want to forget the moments that make me laugh.

So….eventhough I don't have my blog started for Eli (I have a title:  The Evolution of Eli), I am quickly going to jot them down right now:

What I don't want to forget:
1.  At age one he sat on our island during Halloween--just like the picture below:

Last night he sat JUST LIKE this on our "coffee table" to watch the movie Frozen.  I wonder if he will sit in this same fashion in two years?

2.  When he was just about 2.5 we had a horrendous trip back from Disney World.  Eli threw the worlds biggest, loudest and longest tantrum---3.5 hours long.  Jennifer (our sitter's daughter) was actually on the flight and she pretty much pretended that she didn't know Eli…eventhough she had watched them overnight in our home before.  Awful flight.   To this day, Eli comments that he wants to go on an airplane…and I just laugh at the whole idea.

3.  Eli used to call our dog Utah…TuTah.  Love it.

4.  This one I may not forget, but he loves to ride a bike.  He currently prefers to ride his tricycle IN our house…all the time.

5.  Eli does attend a Christian based preschool.  He learns and sings about Jesus.  I find it slightly hilarious that he bursts out into "Jesus is our friend today, stomp your feet, shout Hooray!" song in one moment and the next he'll be jammin to the tune of "I gotta Feelin'" by the Black Eyed Peas.  He loves music.  (has to wear headphones OVER his hood with his sunglasses while in the car).

Okay…that is enough for this evening.  I haven't forgotten about Ella.  What I come away with regarding Ella this evening is that she DOES listen to me, she does have a big heart when it comes to her brother, and she is a darn good kid!  We gotta keep laughing at ourselves and we have to keep our memories alive!

Thank you, Ella, for telling me to write instead of coming to tuck you in tonight!
